Untuk kita tetap merdeka kita harus mengetahui kebenaran yaitu Firman Allah. Dan Firman Allah itulah yang benar2 memerdekakan kita (ayat 32).
2) Galatia 5:13. Saudara2, memang kita telah dipanggil utk merdeka. Tetapi janganlah kita mempergunakan kemerdekakan itu sebagai kesempatan untuk kehidupan dalam dosa, melainkan layanilah seorang akan yang lain oleh kasih.
3) 1 Petrus 2:16 Hiduplah sebagai orang merdeka dan bukan seperti mereka yang menyalahgunakan kemerdekaan itu untuk menyelubungi kejahatan2 mereka tetapi hiduplah sebagai hamba Allah.

Kristus telah menebus kita dari kutuk hukum taurat dengan jalan menjadi kutuk karena kita. Sebab ada tertulis, terkutuklah orang yang tergantung di kayu salib.
